VanSIC 2016 is based on the Pacific Standard Industrial Classification 2014 (PACSIC 2014). PACSIC 2014 is a Pacific Regional standard compiled by the Pacific Community (SPC) for use by the Pacific Island Countries and is derived from the United Nations International Standard Industrial Classification Revision 4.
The structure of VanSIC 2016 is detailed and reflects well the current economic phenomena in Vanuatu’s communication industry. VanSIC 2016 also includes data reporting on the informal sector and imputed rental services of owner-occupied dwellings as an analytical tool since for conceptual reasons they do not fall within the VanSIC 2016 structure. By including these, VanSIC 2016 enables household survey statisticians and national accountants easy access to well classified quality data from the household sector for inclusion in the national accounts. This publication provides important information for those intending to use the VanSIC 2016.
